01 — The situation
The curriculum was the business. It just had no doors.
Annette spent more than twenty years building a week-by-week preschool curriculum that worked — activities, videos, printables, a full year of it. It reached exactly as many children as fit in her classroom.
Selling it needed things a normal website can’t do: content behind a paywall, money collected every month without anyone remembering to, and — the part that decides whether a business like this survives — a way for a preschool teacher to run all of it herself, forever, without a developer standing between her and her own product.
02 — What we built
The Curriculum Studio.
- Weeks — she builds each week out of content blocks: videos, activities, printables, reordered by hand. A preview link lets her check an unpublished week, and duplicating last year’s week takes one click
- Announce — publishing a week emails every member that it’s ready, from inside the same screen
- PDF Combiner — she uploads a stack of printables, drags them into order, and gets one merged packet back, so parents download a single file instead of eleven
- Subscribers & Billing — the member list, the monthly price, and discount codes she creates herself. Stripe handles the charges; members manage their own card and cancellation without emailing anyone
- Messages — one inbox for everything the site sends her: questions from the Ask form and every free-week lead, with an unread badge so nothing sits
- Performance — her real traffic and search numbers, the same ones we look at, inside the studio she already logs into
- Blog & Archive — she writes posts and reaches back through every past week without leaving the tool
- Request Changes — when she does want something from us, she asks from inside the studio and watches the reply come back there
03 — Why it matters
Software is the difference between a website and a business.
Most studios would have put this on a membership platform, handed over a login, and let the monthly fees run forever. Annette’s publishing, billing, email, reporting, and content all live in one build she owns outright — and the day-to-day running of it belongs to her, not to us. She has published every week since launch without once needing a developer. That’s the whole point.
